Voice Recorder - Privacy Policy

This document clarifies how user data and any sensitive information is handled in the app.

Recording Audio - Microphone

We do not hold any recordings or user information on our own servers.

The app “Voice Recorder” records audio files. All the recordings are recorded on the phone using the microphone on the device. The recorded files and related notes are stored on the phone’s storage. The recorded audio files are not stored on our own server and can only be stored locally or on a third party cloud storage service such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

Storage

The app requests permission to access the phone’s storage only in order to store the recorded audio files and play the recorded files afterwards and store recording related data. The app does not access any other files nor excess user’s photos.

Voice Transcription
Your offline voice transcriptions are processed entirely on-device using Whisper.cpp—no audio or text data is sent to servers. You can easily download the Whisper model right in the app via Google Play for full privacy and offline use.

Third-party collected data​

The app uses several third parties in order to improve our services. These parties collect their own data. Please read their privacy policies to ensure that you’re comfortable with the manner in which they collect data.

Cloud

Users may choose to back up and sync their recordings to their own Google Drive or Dropbox account. Cloud backup and sync is optional.

When cloud sync is enabled, the Voice Recorder app itself sends the recording audio and related recording information to the cloud provider selected by the user. This information may include the recording file name or title, notes, transcription text, tags, bookmarks and other recording metadata.

The recordings and related information are stored in the user's own Google Drive or Dropbox account. We do not store these recordings or recording content on our own servers.

The user authorizes Voice Recorder to access the selected cloud-storage account for this purpose. Disconnecting the cloud account stops that connection but does not automatically delete files already stored in the user's cloud account. Using Delete Forever in the app can remove the corresponding cloud copy where applicable.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to help us understand how the app is used, improve the app, and identify and diagnose crashes and technical problems.

When collection is enabled, Firebase Analytics may collect information such as app usage and lifecycle events, app and device information, app-instance and device identifiers, approximate geographic information derived from the device's masked IP address, and in-app purchase or subscription events.

Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash stack traces, relevant application state at the time of a crash, device information, and a Crashlytics installation identifier. This information is used to identify and fix crashes and improve app stability.

Data transmitted to Firebase is encrypted in transit.

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are not used to upload or store your recorded audio files or offline voice transcription content.

The app provides privacy controls that determine whether Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collection is enabled, together with applicable consent choices.

Ads

The free version of Voice Recorder displays advertisements using Google AdMob. The app may also use AppLovin through Google AdMob mediation to provide advertisements.

Advertising services may collect and share information such as device and advertising identifiers, IP address and approximate location derived from it, interactions with advertisements, and diagnostic information. This information may be used for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, subject to applicable consent choices and privacy laws.
